Chapter V
I woke up with the sound of someone banging on my door. Whoever it was seemed to be angry and about to break in. I lay in fear, thinking it could be related to the game. Someone who was trying to stop me from saving Online Fantasy Harem and had discovered where I lived. I took a long, deep breath and told myself Iâd be fine. A few seconds later the same sensation that corrupted my mind when I killed the guard was all over me again. The fear disappeared, and the only thing on my mind was how to kill whoever was at my door.
My body moved on its own, it was 9:30 am. I went to the kitchen and grabbed a sharp knife. My mind tried to prevent me, but my body ignored it. I walked up to the door and got ready to do it. I knew this wasnât a game anymore but part of me didnât care.
âOpen the door, Tim. Iâm worried about you.â A familiar voice shouted.
Fuck. It was Demi, my best friend. I opened the door right away and told her she had woke me up.
âWhy do you have a knife in your hands?â She asked.
The day had just begun, and it was already being shitty. I had completely forgotten to hide the knife. She was looking at me with her pearl blue eyes, waiting for an answer, and tapping her foot.
I didnât have a good explanation, but anything would work. She was a very gullible person. Time was running out, and I had to log in.
âI ate in my room yesterday and it seems like I forgot to take the knife to the kitchen. You know how sometimes I forget things.â I said and laughed.
She still seemed suspicious. We had been best friends since high school. She knew when I was lying and she could feel it now. Yet, she didnât say a word about it.
âYou were playing werenât you?â
âYes,â I replied.
âTim, you know youâre my best friend. You are spending too much time on that game. When was the last time you left home?â
âDemi, Iâm fine. You donât need to worry about me.â
âYou know I always do.â She said, and grabbed my hands, âDonât be an idiot. Have you looked at yourself? You have dark circles under your eyes, your hair⦠I donât even know whatâs happening there, and I bet your room must smell like shit. Look, I brought you this.â She added and gave me a bag of different cookies, and a chocolate cake.
I thanked her. She was an amazing, kind person but could also be mildly annoying until she got what she wanted. In those situations, I had learned to go with the flow instead of pushing her away. It never worked, and Iâd lose time I couldnât waste right now. I let her come in, and she went straight to my bedroom.
Fuck. It had been a while since I cleaned it. I knew it was a mess, there were stinky clothes everywhere, half-eaten cookies, and I hadnât done my bed.
